Chelsea on the brink after Juve loss

European champions Chelsea are on the verge of an early Champions League exit after a 3-0 loss at Juventus left them needing a helping hand in two weeks' time.

The crushing defeat in Turin leaves the Blues needing to beat FC Nordsjaelland in their final Group E game, while also hoping that Juventus lose at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Chelsea are now 2/1 to sneak through to the knockout stages of the competition and 50/1 to win the Champions League, with boss Roberto Di Matteo taking responsibility for the side who took to the field against Juve without a recognised striker.

The Italian admitted: "I'm responsible for the result, I'm responsible for the performance. If anyone has to take the blame, it's me.

"I selected a team I was convinced was the right team to win against Juventus, or get at least a draw, so the blame belongs to me."

Meanwhile, Di Matteo urged his players not to abandon all hope that they might keep their European dreams alive, adding: "Well, mathematically, it's still possible. While there's hope you still try.

"Who says that Juventus aren't going to lose at Shakhtar? We just have to make sure we do our job at our end, win the last group game.

"With 10 points, normally..usually, it's enough."
