Redknapp wants home comforts

QPR boss Harry Redknapp believes he can guide his struggling side to safety if they can make Loftus Road a fortress.

Rangers secured a point at Sunderland on Tuesday in Redknapp's first game in charge, with chances few and far between at the Stadium of Light.

The former Spurs and Portsmouth boss, who replaced the axed Mark Hughes last week, believes home form could be the key to survival and has called on his side to improve on results at Loftus Road.

QPR are the only side left in the Premier League without a win and have managed just three points in six games on home soil.

Redknapp's side host fellow strugglers Aston Villa on Saturday and the QPR boss is desperate to guide the west London outfit to their first win of the campaign as he seeks to guide Rangers to safety.

"We need to make Loftus Road a really difficult place to come for away sides," he told the club’s official website.

"It reminds me of (Portsmouth’s) Fratton Park. It's a small stadium and the crowd are right on top of you.

"It's a great place to be when the fans are in full voice.

"We need to make it a place team’s fear coming to and that needs to start on Saturday."

QPR are 4/6 to be relegated at the end of the season, Villa can be backed at 9/4 to go down and Reading are 1/2.
