O'Neill eyes change in fortunes

Martin O'Neill admits his Sunderland side needs to start picking up points as he prepares to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The Black Cats have nine points from 10 games so far this season, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone going into the weekend's fixtures.

They face a free scoring Fulham side sitting comfortably in mid-table and O'Neill is conscious their task will be a tough one.

Sunderland are 15.00 to win 1-0, with a goalless draw at 11.00. Adam Johnson, who netted his first goal of the season against Everton last weekend, is 17.00 to score first.

"They are a good side - they have been a good side now for some time. They have a settled nucleus of the side, and then they have been able to bring in some really decent players," said O'Neill.

"But we can talk about it every single week here - we need to win some football matches and the sooner we do that, the better.

"We have to look at points on the board now at this stage and start galvanising ourselves."

O'Neill has injury doubts over top scorer Steven Fletcher (calf), Lee Cattermole (knee), Phil Bardsley (hamstring) and Keiren Westwood (thigh) ahead of the game.
