Hughes plays down sack talk

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has once again denied that he is on the verge of being axed.

Hughes' side face a crunch relegation battle against Southampton on Saturday, with some reports suggesting it could be the 49-year-old's last match in charge if his team fails to beat the Saints.

QPR are currently bottom of the Premier League table with just four points and have still to win a match this season. QPR are 2.37 to be relegated this season while Southampton can be backed at 1.50 to finish in the bottom three.

However, Hughes insisted: "My future doesn't hinge on this match. The club has moved forward in a massive way since I came in the door through the work I and my staff have done.

"People shouldn't underestimate the changes that have gone on at the club and I have been a big part of that. I have had great support from everyone. That doesn't just get swept aside because we are in a difficult situation.

"It is because of that work we have done before that sustains you and allows you time to get through this period."

QPR are 1.90 to win Saturday's match while Southampton can be backed at 4.00 to take all three points from the game while a goalless draw is available at 13.00.
