William Hill news - Alonso Backers Out In Force For India

With the Indian Grand Prix just around the hairpin, William Hill punters have been piling into Fernando Alonso as they back the Spaniard to overtake Sebastian Vettel at the top of the Drivers championship. Just six points behind Vettel in the Drivers Championship, Alonso is the 5/1 second favourite to win in India, although Vettel is the 11/10 favourite.

Alonso has been the subject of almost 50% of all early bets on the market with Jenson Button at 9/1, the second best backed driver.

“Having come so close two years ago, only to be pipped to the title by Vettel, Alonso will be desperate to avoid letting this Championship in which he had lead for so long, slip through his grasp,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
