2012 Breeders’ Cup
The countdown has begun to the two days and 15 races that make up the 2012 Breeders’ Cup races at Santa Anita on 2nd and 3rd November.
The pre-entry announcement of the fields show a strong challenge from Europe set to take on the home team in Los Angeles – at a meeting that will be Lasix free for the juvenile races.
The likes of Excelebration in the Mile, Fame And Glory in the Marathon and St Nicholas Abbey in the Turf give Aidan O’Brien three major chances.
Sky Lantern and Dundonnell both head the William Hill betting on their respective juvenile races for Richard Hannon and Roger Charlton.
Spokesman for William Hill, Britain’s biggest bookmaker, Richard Thomas, said, “These races always throw up intriguing clashes, especially in the main events, and it will be very disappointing if the European challenge doesn’t take home a few prizes this time around. Whilst the race timings are not ideal for a home audience, the Classic is scheduled for 12.30am on Sunday 4th November, there will be still be significant global betting interest from around the world over the two days of competition at Santa Anita.”
