Giggs to play on next season

Ryan Giggs' illustrious career will continue for another season after the veteran midfielder agreed a new one-year contract with Manchester United.

The 39-year-old Welshman, who is set to make his 1,000th senior appearance against Norwich City on Saturday, made his United debut in March 1991 against Everton and has since established himself as a true Old Trafford legend.

Giggs, who has made a record 931 appearances for United, told the club's official website: "I am feeling good, enjoying my football more than ever and, most importantly, I feel I am making a contribution to the team.

"This is an exciting team to be part of, with great team spirit and we are again pushing for trophies as we head towards the business end of the season."

United are 1.02 to regain the Premier League title this season and are 8.00 to win the Champions League, while Giggs is 12.00 to open the scoring against the Canaries.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson added his own tribute to Giggs, saying: "His form this year shows his ability and his enjoyment of the game are as strong as ever."

Giggs, who has scored 168 goals for United, has won 12 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, two Champions Leagues, one European Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup during his career.
