Manchester United hitman Wayne Rooney has thrown his support behind under-fire goalkeeper David de Gea

Despite question marks continuing to be raised over the Spaniard and his future at United following recent mistakes against Spurs and Southampton, Rooney is adamant he retains the full support of the dressing room.

"David has made some great saves over the last few weeks," said the former Everton striker.

"I know he got a little bit of criticism after the Tottenham game but it wasn't the biggest mistake I've ever seen.

"We're all behind him. He's a great player for the future as well."

Echoing Rooney's comments was defender Jonny Evans, who believes De Gea's talents are not always given the recognition they deserve.

"People underestimate the reflexes he's got," said the Northern Irishman.

"We are used to seeing him do that. His shot-stopping ability is very good and his save from (John Arne) Riise was excellent."

United are rated as 1.083 to win the Premier League this season, with fierce rivals Manchester City 8.50.
