Platt bemoans Aguero injury

Manchester City assistant manager David Platt has described the loss of in-form striker Sergio Aguero to injury as "a blow".

Argentina international Aguero - quoted 11.00 in the Premier League top goalscorer betting - suffered a hamstring injury in the 3-0 Premier League win over Stoke and is expected to miss the next two games.

Platt revealed club officials did not expect to know the full extent of the injury until at least Thursday, but added the £38m signing was not expected to line up against Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Platt added last season's top scorer could also be doubtful for the January 13 trip to Arsenal. The north Londoners can be backed at 2.62 for the home win, with the draw priced up 3.40 and the away victory quoted 2.60.

The former England international said: "It is difficult to assess an injury like that, how long it is going to be.

"He'll certainly be out Saturday and in my experience he'd be doubtful for Arsenal."

He added: "It's a blow but unfortunately, when you have got so many games in a short space of time, you are running the risk with everybody."

Victory for Roberto Mancini's men leaves the defending champions seven points behind local rivals Manchester United at the top of the table.
