Carroll setback rocks West Ham

West Ham United have been hit by the news that loan striker Andy Carroll could be sidelined for up to two months due to a knee injury.
The 23-year-old England international had to be replaced just after the hour mark of the 1-0 defeat at Manchester United in midweek and the injury has proved to be worse than was at first feared.
Manager Sam Allardyce confirmed ahead of the clash with Chelsea at Upton Park: "Andy Carroll's injury is pretty severe. We didn't expect it to be quite as severe.
"It's going to be about six to eight weeks. It's a blow for us and Andy.
"We must soldier on and the lads out there have plenty of experience, but we are a bit light on the bench."
The loss of Carroll, who has scored just once in ten appearances for the Irons since his arrival from Liverpool, leaves Allardyce short of options in attack, with Ricardo Vaz Te also currently sidelined by a shoulder problem.
The Hammers have made a fine start on their return to the English top-flight and were in the top half of the Premier League table ahead of the weekend action.
