Corinthians deny Chelsea in Japan

Chelsea's bid for glory at the FIFA Club World Cup was thwarted as they were beaten 1-0 by Corinthians in the final in Yokohama.
The Blues enjoyed the better of the chances throughout a highly-competitive 90 minutes, but Paolo Guerrero netted the only goal of the game with just over 20 minutes to play.
Gary Cahill, who was sent off late on in the second half, had the best early chance as his shot was smothered right on the line by keeper Cassio.
The Brazilians responded with Emerson striking the outside of an upright, before Victor Moses forced a superb finger-tip save from Cassio with a curling effort from the left side of the area.
Chelsea enjoyed the better of the opening minutes for the second half, but it was Corinthians who made the breakthrough as Danilo had a shot blocked and Guerrero swooped to head past three defenders stood on the goal-line.
Fernando Torres had a chance to force extra-time when he broke clear into the area, but he could only hit his shot straight as Cassio, and when the Spaniard then had a header ruled out for offside, Chelsea's challenge was over.
Chelsea now turn their attentions to a Capital One Cup quarter-final at Leeds United on Wednesday evening, with the Blues 3/10 to reach the last four and 15/2 to win 1-0 in 90 minutes, while the Championship side are 12/5 to secure a semi-final berth.
