Lahm confident ahead of Barca clash

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm says the team are focusing on reaching the final of the Champions League, not the quality of semi-final opponents Barcelona.

Bayern host the Spanish side in the first leg of their last-four tie on Tuesday and Lahm insists they are confident of taking a competitive scoreline into next week's clash at the Nou Camp.

A 2-1 win for the German giants can be backed at 9.00, while they are 3.00 to keep a clean sheet. A goalless draw is available at 11.00.

"Barcelona have been the team to beat in the last few years and we have to recognise this," he told reporters.

"I think we stand a good chance of winning and our aim is to do that tomorrow. We have a great bunch of players who know what it takes to win. It will be important to get a positive result at home."

He added: "I'm delighted to have reached the semi-finals. Now it's up to us to go one step further and make the final. It doesn't matter about the quality of the opposition. Of course they are weaker without [Lionel] Messi, we saw that during the PSG game. We're hoping he doesn't play tomorrow."

Messi has missed Barcelona's last three games with a hamstring injury picked up in their quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain, but has been included in the squad for the trip to Germany.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes acknowledged his side are facing a dominant force in European football, but believes team spirit and unity could see his players progress at Barcelona's expense.

"If I were to sum up the strength of Bayern this season in one word, I would say 'teamwork'," he said.

"We play the most modern football in the club's history."
