Mancini aims to continue with City

Roberto Mancini remains confident that he will still be in charge of Manchester City next season, despite talk of a managerial change at Eastlands in the summer.

Mancini spoke out after seeing his side's hopes of ending the season with any major silverware come to an end with a 1-0 FA Cup final defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic.

He said of continuing reports of his job being under threat: "If we find out in a week the things you say are not true, you have written a lot of stupid things in the last six months and more in the last two weeks.

"If it is true, I am stupid because I didn't understand anything.

"You have been speaking about this for the last six months and also the last two weeks. It is too much. The club didn't stop this, I don't think that was correct."

The Italian also hinted that a lack of major signings last summer was partly to blame for their failure to defend their Premier League crown successfully, adding: "Our target when we started the season was to win the Premier League.

"But I think our mistakes started in the last transfer market, we didn't do enough to our team."

The Citizens are 3.00 to win back the Premier League title next season, with Manchester United 2.87 and Chelsea 3.75.
