Nadal final next up for Del Potro

Juan Martin del Potro has Rafael Nadal in his sights after reaching the final of the BNP Paribas Open by ending Novak Djokovic's 22-match winning run.

The Argentinian, who had beaten Andy Murray in the quarter-finals, outlasted world number one Djokovic 4-6 6-4 6-4 in a classic encounter in Indian Wells, while Nadal had an easier time in seeing off Tomas Berdych 6-4 7-5.

Nadal, who is playing in his first hardcourt tournament since returning to action after long-term knee problems, is 1.53 to win the final and 2.25 to win in straight sets, while Del Potro is 2.50 to defeat the Spaniard.

Having extended his own winning run to 13 matches, Nadal said: "For me it's completely unexpected. To be in the final it's a big surprise.

"It's very, very difficult to imagine something like this. But here we are and I'm very happy about all that has happened in the last month, especially the last three weeks."

Nadal holds a 7-3 winning record against Del Potro, whose last victory over the left-hander came in the semi-finals of the 2009 US Open, with the Argentinian going on to win his only Grand Slam to date by seeing off Roger Federer in the final.

On hardcourts Del Potro and Nadal are locked at 3-3 in their head-to-head record, while their last meeting, in the 2011 Davis Cup final, ended in a four-set victory on clay for Nadal.
