Zabaleta targets Wembley place

Pablo Zabaleta has told his Manchester City team-mates they will be playing for their FA Cup final places against West Brom on Tuesday.

The deposed Premier League champions take on Wigan at Wembley on Saturday but must first look to consolidate second place in the top flight with victory at the Etihad against the Baggies. City are quoted 1.40 in the match betting, with the draw priced 5.00 and the West Brom away win available at 9.00.

Combative full-back Zabaleta said it was vital players did not miss the opportunity to impress manager Roberto Mancini.

"We will all be playing for places at Wembley," said the Argentine full-back, quoted in the Daily Mirror.

"Every single player will want to show the manager that they want to play in that game."

Mancini could be tempted to wrap up some of his stars in cotton wool on Tuesday but Zabaleta urged those selected to stake a claim for Wembley.

City are quoted 1.20 in the To Lift The Trophy market, with Roberto Martinez's Latics available to back at 5.00.

He added: "We want to keep winning to make sure we get second place. Then we can turn our focus to Wembley.

"Hopefully winning will give us momentum for such an important game. Winning gives you confidence and makes you stronger."
