Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has deflected criticism aimed at striker Fernando Torres by praising the forward’s defensive prowess.
Since making his £50m from Liverpool almost two years ago, the Spanish international has somewhat struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge and goals have not been forthcoming.
Latest Blues boss Benitez has now praised Torres for his defensive work on the pitch, especially around set-pieces.
He said: "It's not just scoring goals.
"We changed his position in corners, for example. If you analyse the corners against, he was amazing.
"Two or three times he's cleared the ball and afterwards was just doing man-to-man, because it's what he had to do. So, he's helping the team, in this case to defend."
Chelsea are next in action in the Champions League when they face Nordsjaelland in the Champions League.
The Blues are 1.11 to secure the win on Wednesday, whilst the visitors are 21.00 to come away with an unlikely three points and the draw can be backed at 9.00.
