Vandy young and mediocre

The Commodores of Vanderbilt are in Cincinnati to play the Musketeers of Xavier on Thursday evening in need of a win.

Now 2-4 on the season after losing all of their starters from last year's side, Vanderbilt faces an extremely tough season with a losing record a distinct possibility. Only Auburn and Georgia have performed worse than the Commodores in the SEC so far this year. Two and six after consecutive defeats to Georgia Tech and South Florida, the Bulldogs of Georgia are off until 15th December when they host Iona.

Meanwhile, the Tigers of Auburn have lost four straight and host Grambling this Tuesday. Grambling have yet to win this season and are expected to be crushed by Oregon State on Saturday before heading to Auburn Arena for the clash of Tigers.

As Florida dominates the early going in basketball, Alabama prepares to play Notre Dame in the BCS title game and Johnny Football is the favorite for the Heisman Trophy, Ole Miss and LSU have quietly put together unbeaten starts to the season. The Rebels, who defeated Rutgers last time out, are at Middle Tennessee State on Saturday to play the Blue Raiders.

Transfer Marshall Henderson leads Ole Miss with over 17 points per game and is likely to lead the Rebels to some unexpected wins once they teams get into conference play. Also undefeated are LSU under first year coach Johnny Jones and the Tigers host Chattanooga at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center next Tuesday as they look to move to 6-0 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are 2.90 to win the NBA Championship while the Thunder are 4.75 and the Lakers are 6.00.
