William Hill’s ‘Cash In My Bet’ punters made full use of the feature this weekend as the FA Cup threw up a number of surprises. On Saturday nearly 8,000 punters cashed in their bets in order to limit losses that came from (amongst others) Hull (4/9), Nottingham Forest (8/15), Wolves (11/10) and Cardiff (8/15) all failing to win. On Sunday over £250,000 was cashed in as Arsenal (23/20) failed to hold onto a win against Swansea.
The weekend also saw a huge landmark broken as William Hill breached the £2million mark in cashed in bets since the 15th December 2012.
“True to form, the FA Cup threw up a number of shocks and surprises but those who had bet with William Hill had the safety net of being able to cash out their bets early. This they chose to do with nearly £450,000 handed back over the course of the two days,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
Two of the biggest shocks saw Macclesfield and Luton both knocking out Championship sides and they are 14/1 to both qualify for the fifth round. It is Evens for one of them to do so and 4/6 that neither do.
Frank Lampard is reportedly set to leave Chelsea although at 1/4, it looks as though he will still be at the club on the 1st February. Should he leave in this window, he is 7/2 to join an MLS side, amidst reports that LA Galaxy are interested in signing the player. He is 10/1 for a move to Monaco, West Ham or QPR.
